While discussing the blindness of love the other day, I was reminded of one of my favorite songs and jazz vocalist. This lady is without a doubt one of the premiere jazz vocalist of the day. She is a Phyllis Hyman, Minne Riperton, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sherry Scott, and Dianne Reeves stylist all wrapped in one magnificent voice. When it comes to dubbing herself only Chaka Khan rivals her talent in that arena. As a world-class background vocalist, her discography speaks volumes. So, with all that said, my Artist of the Month is...
Boy, it's so difficult to pick just ONE tune here, so I'll do a double this month. The first one, "Ability To Swing" is a tune which demonstrates her versatile talent as both a solo performer and background vocalist. The second tune, "Stars In Your Eyes" demonstrates another aspect of her moving and captivating vocal styling; sweetness. Both tunes are from her 1994 album, "That Secret Place", which is a definite "must have" in any record record collection... :)Just click the icon next to the song and ENJOY !
