Yet
again while working on the Minnie Riperton site something very wonderful
happened... I found myself reconnected with one of the persons responsible
for introducing me to what I've always affectionately referred to as "spirit
music" (better known as "Kozmigroov").
This wonderful lady is none other than the phenomenal ...
Although Sherry was the female vocalist in the original Earth Wind & Fire and the composer of EWF's first pop hit, "I Think About Loving You", her roots are firmly planted in Jazz. Albeit, there are very few who can hold a candle to Sherry when it comes to writing a classic love song, she is the consummate jazz vocalist. Her interpretation of "Afro Blue" is my absolute favorite, and you haven't heard "My Funny Valentine" or "'Round Midnight" until you've heard Sherry's vocal rendition of these classics. As only spirit would have it, I miracalouly discovered Sherry had released a new CD in 1998 entitled "Stepping/High Stepping" on Omnibus Records. I have also learned that she is currently working on a new jazz/contemporary album to be released shortly. "High Stepping", the title track is classic Sherry Scott! The fantastic instrumental intro sets the stage as Sherry's cool rhythmic vocal styling introduces us to High Stepping ... into Paradise. Be sure to visit Sherry's site and learn about the roots of "Steppin'" Sherry
is a beautiful, highly talented woman with a fabulous personality.
Needless to say, she is a very beautiful spirit as well. As you'll
discover at her Site (see below) Sherry is a woman of many talents, so
I will not belabor you with repitition. So, meet or reaquaint
yourself with my Artist of the Month, Sherry
Scott !
